Visual Artist & Scientist
Exploring the intersection of nature, science, and art

Hi! My name is Emma Garman and I am a visual artist and scientist from Toronto, Canada. I just graduated from Scripps College (Claremont, California) in Spring 2026 where I completed a dual major in biology and art.
My art primarily explores the intersection of nature, science, and creativity. My practice uses watercolor, oil, and mixed media to explore reciprocal relationships between humans and the natural world — ecological, agricultural, and deeply personal.
Rooted in field observation and scientific inquiry, my work moves from naturalist field sketches to emotionally driven paintings that ask viewers to reconsider their place within living ecosystems. From coral reefs in Australia to Mediterranean olive groves, I am drawn to landscapes where human culture and nature have shaped each other across centuries. Through art, I connect human and nature.
